During my stay in Ho Chi Minh City, the first thing I visited was “Saigon Sky Deck”. The skyscraper, which is 262 meters high and has 68 stories, has an observation deck that you can climb for a fee.
It’s a tourist spot that seems to symbolize the economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, and the entrance fee is 200,000 dong! It’s too high for the price level in Vietnam, but is it worth it? I’d like to report.
Access and Entrance
Saigon Sky Deck is located in a skyscraper called “Vithecco Financial Tower”. The location is here between Guenfé and Hamgee.
It was completed in 2010. It’s only 262 meters high, so it’s not a big deal for Tokyo’s skyscrapers, but there aren’t many tall buildings around here, so it stands out.
The entrance to the observatory is on the south side of the building. It was a small open space, with a special booth for sales and promotion, and a cafe and shopping mall entrance on the first floor of the building, which was crowded with people.
The ticket is 200,000 VND!
When you enter from the entrance of the Sky Deck, there is a ticket booth in front of you, where you can buy tickets. Then, go to the elevator at the back of the lobby.
You can pay by credit card (JCB is OK.), but the admission fee is 200,000 VND! I was surprised because I saw word of mouth that it was around 100,000 strong according to my research in advance.
As might be expected, Ho Chi Minh City is booming economically. But I can’t believe that it will cost 200,000 dong to visit tourist facilities in Vietnam. …。
After checking your ticket, take the elevator to the 49th floor. I imagined a see-through elevator with a view, but it was an ordinary elevator with no view, so I was a little disappointed …。
178 m corridor above ground
Arrive at the observation area on the 49th floor! This corridor is 178 meters high above the ground and has a 360 degree view.
The ceiling by the window indicates the north, south, east and west. The floor is glossy and the ceiling is mirror-covered, so the outside view reflects and is beautiful.
Binoculars are also installed. I thought it was a paid coin type, but now I can watch it for free.
The observation area is only on this floor, but if you go up one floor, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy food and alcohol. However, even 1 cocktail costs more than 1,000 yen, so it’s a bit of a bummer …。
The view is so-so, and you can see even higher skyscrapers.
And the essential view is here! It’s only 178 meters above the ground and about the height of the Tokyo Tower’s main observatory, but you can see quite a distance for that. Looking at it this way, I was surprised at the gap with the local image that Ho Chi Minh is also a big city!
I can see the Ben Thanh Market and the subway construction around there. It may be good to develop a sense of the place before sightseeing.
Looking up north, you can see a very tall building across the crooked river, “Landmark 81” the tallest building in Vietnam, built recently. It is said that the height is 461 meters and it is the highest in Southeast Asia.
Later, I got on a boat and looked up from the river, and it was a unique building that looked like building blocks. I wonder if this area is a redevelopment area, the density of well-built high-rise apartment building is amazing …。
If you go up, do you recommend the night view?
That’s why the observation deck of Saigon Sky Deck costs 1,000 yen, but it is located in the center of the city, so it might be better to go up at night to see the night view. The view in the daytime is not bad, but 200,000 dong is a little too expensive for this content!
It was “Saigon Sky Deck”, a sightseeing spot in Ho Chi Minh City where you can feel the price increase of Vietnam!
