Palau de la Musica Catalana, How to Buy Tickets and Choose Seats!

“Palau de la Musica Catalana” is a world heritage concert hall in Barcelona, Spain. This time, I would like to report on the notes about the ticket arrangement, the venue access, and the social hall where you can enjoy the architectural beauty of the concert hall before the opening.

World Heritage Concert Hall

Palau de la Musica Catalana is a leading concert hall in Barcelona, Spain, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997 along with Sampau Hospital. It has become a standard tourist spot in Barcelona.

The Palau de la Musica Catalana facade is covered in reddish-brown bricks. It was designed by (Lluís Domènech i Montaner) an architect from Barcelona.

Speaking of Barcelona, I already know the word “Gaudi” so it doesn’t ring a bell now if someone mentions another person’s name ・・・。

It was built in the style called “Model Nismo” which was popular in Catalonia at that time, and the way of using decorations is similar to the art nouveau style in France. Gaudi’s work in this category is called “Casa Batllo”.

It was built in 1908, but I heard that the repair work has been done for 7 years since 1982 recently, so the exterior wall looks brand new. Sculptures depicting Beethoven and other musicians are displayed all over the facade.

How to buy tickets and choose seats

As for the concert ticket at Palau de la Musica Catalana, I purchased it from the official website without exception this time as well. You can switch to English, click any date from the calendar, and go to the ticket purchase screen from the BUY button of any performance.

You can also choose your seat! However, in spite of the first day of ticket sales, there are almost no seats left, this situation …。

The ticket I bought this time is an orchestra performance conducted by the world-famous Simon Rattle, so ticket agencies around the world may have already booked it. Since this hall is famous as a tourist spot of Barcelona, many people who do not usually listen to music come here, so it is inevitable that there will be many rivals!

Also, when you select a seat, a picture of the view from that position is displayed, so it is easy to imagine when you select a seat. However, if a person sits in front of you, half of the stage will be filled with the head of the person, so just for reference, …。

Also, you need to pay attention to the position of pillars in the balcony seats on the upper floors. The location of the pillars is marked by ●, but we plan to summarize the actual situation of the venue in the next article.

After you pay by credit card, an e-ticket will be issued, so you can use it as a ticket. Tickets seem to be released in bulk every season, and this time, despite the performance in June, the release was as early as last August …。

Access to Palau de la Musica Catalana

Access to Palau de la Musica Catalana is in the old town about 500 m east of the Plaza Catalonia. It is located one street from the main street to the back street, so it is quite difficult to find if you don’t look at the map.

The nearest subway station is Urquinaona at L1 and L4, which is less than 10 minutes from Catalonia Station.

A World Heritage Concert Hall built between buildings in a narrow alley. I want to take a picture by turning around the appearance, but I have trouble taking pictures because there is not much space. …。

The entrance to the concert hall is on the southeast side of the building. You can’t enter from here until about an hour before the show starts.

You can also enter through the back entrance.

There was another entrance on the west side of the Palau de la Musica Catalana building, which was open early in the day.

There is a glass door at the back of the square where there is a rather creepy statue of a baby’s face, from which you can enter the building of the concert hall. There is also a cafe here, so you can go in and out without a ticket.

When I went inside, the design of model Nismo became a beautiful social place! Before the opening, people are waiting for the concert! There are a lot of tables, but there are so many people that you can’t even see them!

Light meals and drinks such as sandwiches and pinchos are sold at the central counter. The couple eating and drinking at the end of this counter might be because there is no table available.

On this floor, photos and scores of past conductors related to the concert hall are displayed. You can see the model Nismo building and wait for the opening here.

Directly connected to the hall entrance!

In addition, if you go to the back of this social hall, it is directly connected to the entrance hall of the concert hall, and you can go to the concert hall directly! 30 minutes before the show starts, the buzzer sounds and the entrance starts!

That’s why Palau de la Musica Catalana will continue its observation report.
